Shaw 5100 Solvent
Free Conductive Flooring Adhesive is designed for the
installation of the static conductive commercial grade PVC flooring
known as ElectraTile. Shaw 5100 is a
non-flammable water based electrically conductive adhesive that is resistant to
plasticizer migration and can be applied using common tools
and techniques over a variety of subfloor surfaces. This
adhesive is low odor and contains zero calculated VOC's (based on
solvents used), which makes it ideal for use anywhere odor
is a concern. This product further conforms to California
clean air requirements
as specified in SCAQMD Rule 1168. SUBSTRATE REQUIREMENTS: HVAC must be in operation. It's important that all products to be used in the installation be preconditioned at a temperature between 65o and 85o F for at least 48 hours prior to beginning the installation and permanently thereafter. Follow the instructions shipped with the flooring product. Any substrate onto which flooring is to be installed should be carefully inspected to assure that proper adhesive bonding will be achieved. Proper adhesion requires that the substrate be clean, permanently dry, free from dust, paint, sealers, floor finishes, existing adhesives, other flooring materials and any coatings or chemicals that reduce the bond strength. Do not use this adhesive on any substrate that has been chemically cleaned. Adhesive coverage and spread rates may vary according to the substrate type and application method. Moisture testing is required prior to any installation of United SCP flooring products on concrete substrates. Testing should be done per ASTM F1869 Calcium Chloride Moisture Emission Test (with the maximum level being 5 lbs / 1000 s.f / 24 hour period. Test concrete surface for pH. Results must be between 6 and 10. Documented moisture and pH testing is required for validation of all United SCP floor covering Warranties. Do not install United SCP ESD Flooring over gypsum based patching or leveling compounds. INSTALLATION: Follow all United SCP flooring installation recommendations and guidelines for proper flooring installation. Please Note: Do NOT spread an area that is too large to realistically work. |
When installing over non porous substrates allow the spread adhesive to very slightly dry until the top surface becomes tacky to the touch (slight transfer to the fingertip). The drying time of this adhesive will vary according to temperature, substrate porosity and other environmental variables. When installing over porous substrates install the flooring into the adhesive while semi wet (slight to moderate transfer to the fingertip). Install flooring immediately after the required open time and roll floor in all directions using a 100 pound vinyl flooring roller. NOT following the recommended methods for installation will sacrifice important bonding properties. Trowel size: 1/16" x 1/16" x 1/16" is recommended by the manufacturer. Many clients prefer to use a 1/32" x 1/16" x 1/32" U notch as it is less messy. Typical Coverage: 150 to 160 square feet per gallon. Grounding: Ground this adhesive and flooring every 2,000 sf. Click Here for the recommended grounding method. Clean up: Do not get this adhesive on the finished surface of the tiles as it may stain the tiles and is hard to remove. Dried adhesive will require the use of a safety solvent or cleaners containing phosphates (some deck cleaners contain phosphates). Cleaners containing glycol ethers (such as 409 and Soft Scrub) have been shown to be somewhat effective. Storage and Handling: Containers should be kept tightly closed. This product is sensitive to freezing. Protect from freezing. Unopened containers stored at temperatures of 60 to 75 degrees F have a shelf life expectancy of 6 months.
